Verizon to Offer Only 4G LTE Smartphones Starting 2013

Though in December 2011 Verizon’s 4G LTE network was out for three times, it still remains the biggest carrier in the US offering the largest 4G LTE coverage there. Verizon Wireless covers 190 markets and has 200 million subscribers in its 4G LTE network. It means Verizon is also the largest 4G LTE network in the world. On the one hand it’s a real advantage, but on the other hand it’s a responsibility towards the users and the rest of the world. Considering this and taking into account the perspectives of 4G LTE’s growth Verizon’s associate director of device marketing, Keith Lampron said that all future Verizon devices will be only 4G-enabled ones.

Keith Lampron talked about this in an interview to CNET. She also added the carrier will offer not only Android-based devices and iPhones, but also BlackBerry devices and handsets running Windows Phone. But in general BlackBerry devices and Windows Phone-powered handsets don’t support 4G LTE network, so if  these manufacturers want to join Verizon’s big family, they must change their strategy.

Verizon announced it will complete its LTE network before the end of 2013. Afterwards all Verizon handsets will support only 4G LTE. An exception will make the devices running on Verizon’s push-to-talk network.
