If not every day, then every week definitely different carriers roll out a number of updates for both smartphones and tablets. At the moment we have one of biggest Canadian carriers pushing out Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OTA update for the HTC Desire HD.
As Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is on its way, we often ignore updates like this, but it’s not fair, as ICS won’t be available for all devices, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is completely acceptable for Desire HD-like devices. I mean in all likelihood the Desire HD will never see Android 4.0 update, so its users will hardly mind running the latest version of Gingerbread.
Anyway, let’s not make premature conclusions. What we have is already enough to rejoice. We have improved copy/paste feature, UI refinements, improved power management and video call support, some Desire HD specific stuff, HTC Sense 3.0 and so on. Plus, the update comes with HTC Watch enabling you to buy or rent movies and shows.
So the update fixes a number of bugs and provides better phone performance. As the update is pushed out over the air, be attentive not to miss the notification. Afterwards, fully charge your phone battery and find a fast Wi-Fi hotspot to proceed.
