Price of HTC Leo Announced

The flagship smartphone HTC Leo, which is equipped with a huge 4.3-inch screen and a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz processor, is about to go on sale in the UK. Release of this device is appointed on 11 November, which means that we have to wait less than a month. And now HTC has decided to announce the price of its innovation.

Without any contracts and tight binding to a specific network carrier HTC HD2 (the new name of Leo) will cost 470 pounds, which is approximately equal to 740 U.S. dollars, however, without taxes. Price is quite adequate, considering that the model is new and well stuffed with modern functions. In addition, it was noted that the user will have an opportunity to add the operating system Windows Mobile 6.5, 5-megapixel camera with excellent optics, accelerometer, support for 3G networks and a new proprietary HTC Sense interface.

This article will be very small and humble, as it’s mainly based upon the photo review which was made during the event at Microsoft on the magic transformation “of all” Windows Mobile to new Windows Phone.

Design
Even long before the official announcement some forums included comments of various people that in principle there is no and can not be any design at HD2. “It’s so big, how we can speak about design?” But anyways the design of the product can be viewed in a combination of quality materials, thin body and 4.3″ screen. This surely leads to the idea that you can not feel it from the photo; you need to take HD2 in hand to get an idea of its design.

Control
There are a few hardware keys in HD2: the volume button on the left edge and five keys below the screen. There is not any joystick or trackball, moreover, there is not even a separate button to turn off the screen (the device) – which is rather strange. Of course, HTC could’ve easily forgot ten about a separate camera button, and then about five-way navigation-key for most devices, so the fact mentioned is not unusual, but I still think that “removing” the power button is not the most sensible step.
To press keys and hold the smartphone with one hand is difficult, in such a situation you want to compare HD2 with something over-weighted.
Yes, HTC HD2 is the first device of the company, which uses a bunch of 3.5 mm + microUSB. The appearance of this connector is the whole event. As much as the “removal” of a separate power button is negative, so positive was the appearance of microUSB instead of proprietary ExtUSB. MicroUSB in the near future through the efforts of Nokia and Samsung will be the new standard in the world of phones, so that HTC has done the transition to this connector in time.

Screen
Display – this is the reason why it is worth seeing HTC HD2. Despite the limitations in the software color screen (65k colors) and resolution of 800×480 pixels (for such a screen, it seems no longer sufficient), the display of HD2 looks very cool.

Diagonal of the screen is 4.3″. For comparison: Nokia N900 is equipped with a screen with diagonal of 3.5″, HTC MAX 4G, Touch HD, and Acer F1 – 3.8″. HTC always retains the palm among producers, when it comes to displays, and releasing HD2, HTC will remain a leader in this field. We can recall a new type of screens from Samsung, something else, but the diagonal 4.3″ outshines other characteristics of other screens.
In addition, the display is very bright, with maximum viewing angles and good contrast.It is all because of the very big screen of HD2 which looks like a shovel. Display is capacitive, stylus is not included.

I’m not going to describe the dimensions of the device for a long time as it will be much clearer to simply look at the comparative photos. Make things easier to navigate, it’s better to give the dimensions of comparable devices:

Other information
HTC HD2 is the first device of the HTC company on a new Qualcomm Snapdragon platform. The frequency of the processor is 1 GHz and other features, including playing unconverted video as 480p (maybe more), the largest among the WM-units RAM – 448 MB are also available.

Impressions
It remains to say that in HD2 company sells a lot of small innovations, which need detailed study to draw into some kind of conclusions. Available interface Sense is a pure speculation and promotion of a new catchy name, so the company will now be able to name interfaces for WM-units, and for Android. In fact, Sense of HD2 is all the same TouchFLO 3D, of course, greatly worked out and with many new features, but the logic of the interface is the one we know from TouchFLO, but not from Sense.
As I suppose, HD2 will have a large number and a variety of “wow”-trifles. I can mention graphic effects of weather on the main screen. Previously, it was necessary “to go” on a separate page with the weather, to see how the rain clouds are swept away, in HD2, these effects will become the background on the main screen (for example, passing clouds). When you see it, you want to say “wow”, so that the function works.
When viewing the smartphone in details we, of course, find one or two minuses. However, the smartphone is not less impressive than the iPhone, with its design, not less than Diamond with its size, not less than the first Touch with its stunning effect. You take HD2 in hand and realize that in the world of mobile phones and other devices you can find great things which cause admiration, surprise and amaze. In my opinion, HD2 combines all of these.

Acer F1 and HTC Leo to be Released Until the End of the Year

According to the online recources, two more smartphones based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor, running Windows Mobile 6.5, are expected to appear until the end of this year. Novelties will be provided by Taiwanese company ASUSTeK Computer and Inventec.

First – Acer F1 will become the leading device running the new OS. Its presentation has to be held in October. Smartphone has a 3.8” touch screen, a 5-megapixel camera and a standard set of wireless communications. Approximate price of F1 will be $555.

The exact date of sales and price of the second one, codenamed HTC Leo, has not been announced yet. According to preliminary data, it will be high-class smartphone with a capacitive touch-screen technology with support of multitouch and control with gestures.

HTC HD2 300% More Productive Than Touch HD

The test results of the smartphone HTC HD2 appeared in the net. This model is also known under the code name Leo; it has been officially announced recently and is based on 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs WinMo 6.5. Judging from the tests, HTC HD2 is 300% productive then Touch HD in the processing of three-dimensional graphics. Previously, we have already mentioned that the browser IE, installed on HTC HD, does not support touch control multi-touch. However, now we know that the communicator will have pre-set Opera browser with multi-touch support.

HTC HD2 is a new flagship in the line of phones with similiar specs. The device is equipped with a4.3-inch touch screen, designed on a capacitive technology and is convenient for finger control. There are also wireless modules, GPS, a 5 megapixel camera and a set of sensors, and all that is placed in 11 mm shell.

Digital Compass for HTC Leo (HD2) Confirmed

Finally the presence of a digital compass in HTC Leo (HTC HD2) was confirmed. Earlier we wrote about the existence of Digital Compass applications. But we have already started suspecting that all this is not true. But professionals who have tested HTC Touch HD2 announced that Leo would actually have a digital compass. They also confirmed that it would be fully functional and beautiful tool, unlike the analogue of the iPhone.

What does the existence of the magnetometer gives to the mobile device? It provides the communicator with an opportunity for the maximum adaptation of the device for comfortable everyday use. In particular, using a digital compass program for GPS-navigation will give an opportunity to automatically and more accurately determine where you are and to give further offers of the best way. Leo will be Renamed to HD 2

We have already written for several times about the new device from HTC, which has not been formally submitted by the company, but we have seen spy photos and video. The novelty will most likely be performed in a monoblock and based on a Qualcomm MSM 8250 processor with 1 GHz. It will be equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, a large 4.3-inch screen, with support of GSM / EDGE, HSPA, WiFi, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone input, Bluetooth and Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.

The portal Engadget published the informal photos of this device, hinting that its name will be changed. During a brief acquaintance with the test sample of the new device our colleagues from Techblog.gr, could found out that in the hands of the journalists appeared communicator with updated firmware.

With some changes in hardware, while connection via Bluetooth instead of the expected name HTC Leo appeared HTC HD 2.

HTC Leo to be Revealed Earlier than Expected

Some resources on the internet reported that the British operator O2 introduced a communicator on the coming list of devices and set the date for the launch.

Moreover, it is fundamentally different from previously known one. This new multimedia communicator should have appeared on shelves in late November – early December, while O2 will represent it on October 12. So, it is possible that HTC Leo we will see in less than a month.

Strangely, the model was mentioned as “HTC HD2″, although some other resources have confidently announced that the name of the new product will be “HTC PRO.Three”.

So we have a communicator with three names. And which one you like more, HTC Leo, HTC HD2 or HTC PRO.Three?

New Details about HTC Leo (Touch HD2)

Every day, we get new information about HTC Leo, or as it is called – HTC Touch HD2. At this time an anonymous user of the site XDA-Developers has been able to test this new device and shared with his impressions (as well as images of Leo) with us.

First of all, he enthusiastically declared that HTC Leo is a giant, especially compared with HTC Hero. Someone will consider it superfluous and less convenient. However, there are people who prefer large capacitive screens with amazing color and high resolution.

Netherlands is one of the first countries where the novelties from HTC are presented. And, now at online shop Phoneshop.nl you can order HTC Leo.

Date of receipt of the sale is still unknown, but now anyone can reserve a novelty for himself/herself. Moreover, the price is lower than expected – only 522 euros ($770), including VAT. But Phoneshop is not alone – 2call.nl also takes pre-orders for this communicator. However, there it is much more expensive – 592 euros ($870), including VAT.

HTC Leo was seen in Australia, on the site of the Telestra operator where the model was called “HTC HD2″.

Large British online store mobiles.co.uk also added HTC Touch HD2, but there are neither photos nor the price available.

Unfortunately, the exact release date of the communicator is unknown, but rumors are contradictory: HTC Leo may be represent in late November – early December, or on October 12.
