Wow! It feels like it’s been ages that HTC Touch Pro 2 got released as the novelties has been crushing soon after. Anyways if you are still one of those who’s considered an owner of HTC Touch Pro 2, then please welcome a minor ROM update for your device. The main features to be added to your device are the enhanced Sense user interface, compact QWERTY keyboard, visual voicemail and improved Navigation system.

HTC 2009 results – Quick look back

The year is almost over, so it’s time for many companies to look back and see what they have achieved during the year and make plans for the upcoming year.

Taiwanese company HTC, manufacturer of smartphones, remained true to itself and continued to produce “smart” devices in 2009. As always the devices from HTC are beautiful and functional, and range up to date. In particular, in 2009 there were updated versions of classic HTC-smartphones, to an index of models which added the figure “2” – HTC HD2, HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC Touch Pro 2. Particular success was achieved by HD2. It strikes with its huge 4.3-inch capacitive screen of 480×800 points, 1 GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera and a Sense UI by also adding money to the enormous budget of the company.

However, HTC also emerged in radical changes – part of its production was changed from using the familiar Windows Mobile to Android operating system. Including HTC Hero, which combines good functional specifications (5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc.) with an interesting design. Another interesting model of the company is the relatively inexpensive HTC Tattoo, which is also running an operating system from Google.

Moreover, despite the relatively low price, this functional specs of the smartphone is not so bad, taking into consideration of the presence of a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, support for microSD memory cards, FM-radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS modules.

In general, the trend of the transition to the Android in the HTC products is systemic in nature – from the 8 smartphones, scheduled for the first half of the next year, 5 will be running an operating system from Google, which clearly shows that Android will be present in HTC smartphones for a long time and in some cases will be replacing Windows Mobile.

HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC Touch Pro 2

New smartphones Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional have been announced by HTC at Mobile World Congress exhibition in 2009 and have already managed to enter the world market of mobile phones.

Devices are improved versions of their prototypes HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro, released a year earlier.

Both smartphones are based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system and use the capabilities of the TouchFLO 3D modern touch interface. The advanced technology Push Internet adds convenience in the process of navigating the Internet and allows preloading pages frequently visited by the users .

Touch Diamond 2 from HTC company belongs to the category of luxury phones.

Specifications of Diamond2 are at a decent level: the device has a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528 MHz processor, 288 megabytes and 512 MB of internal memory, 3.2-inch touch screen with a resolution of 480×800 dots, an updated powerful 5-megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi – Fi, battery of 1100 mAh, accelerometer, FM-radio. The device currently uses microSDHC cards as the memory card and, according to the HTC company, the duration of the battery work was above 50%. Also Diamond2 is able to operate in networks GSM / GPRS / EDGE and HSDPA / WCDMA. Dimensions of the smartphone are 107, 85х53,1×13, 7, and it weighs 117.5 grams.

The smartphone Touch Pro2 is made in the slider form-factor with a sliding QWERTY-keyboard. Samsung Moment
This is the second phone from Samsung, announced at CTIA. Before this, the Samsung Behold II was presented at the exhibition. Samsung Behold II is similar to its predecessor of the first generation, and because of this, the keyboard of the device is not quite as comfortable. The smartphone has a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, as well as Wi-Fi-module.

HTC Pure
This phone is a significant improvement of its predecessor Touch Diamond. The new device has a more advanced technical features, sophisticated design and new features that are supported by Windows Mobile 6.5.

There is a traditional minimalism in design. Only a few buttons are available on the surface of the device and there is no physical keyboard. You can manage your phone using the touch screen of 3.2 inches with a resolution of 800×480 pixels.
HTC Pure is running Windows Mobile 6.5. Unfortunately, the phone does not have multimedia functions inherent to the mobile platform. Also, there is certain slowness in the work of the applications.

HTC Touch Pro 2
This phone belongs to a business-oriented segment of smartphones. Smartphone has one of the best QWERTY-keyboard. In addition, it has additional useful buttons – for example, button for a quick launch of browser, call the interface to send SMS, scrolling.

HTC Imagio

HTC HD2 (HTC Leo) does not Support Multitouch in Pocket IE

Here is new information about HTC Leo. First of all we’d like to mention that the device will be called HTC HD2. The second it is – the release date of this connector. In Russia, it will appear in late November or in December, but the world premiere of HD2 will be held in the Netherlands in late October. The cost of the device will be 550-600 euros, which is about $800. In principle, the price is the same as the price of HTC Touch Pro 2. I would say it’s worth it. But the British subscribers of the O2 network will get HTC HD2 for free when signing a half year contract for 1200 minutes for £45 per month. Now here is bad news for fans of mobile browser, Pocket Internet Explorer. This device supposedly works only on Opera Mobile. This means that you will not be able to increase the text with multitouch.

High-capacity Battery for Touch Pro2

Recently it was reported that on October 6 Verizon Wireless is going to represent a novelty from HTC – Imagio (index name XV6975).

It is now certain that, the communicator HTC Whitestone is hidden under the name HTC Imagio. This elegant device is a non-keyboard monoblock with 3.6-inch touch-sensitive WVGA (800×480) screen and thanks to which the communicator can be put on the table, for example, to view the video. Among the technical characteristics of HTC Whitestone we’d like to mention 528 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera and GPS-receiver. This device will also support the work both in CDMA and GSM networks.

U.S. operator Verizon Wireless recently launched HTC Touch Pro 2, and from that moment on, apparently, collaboration of Verizon and HTC will develop actively, because in addition to HTC Imagio / Whitestone, the operator is going to release another HTC device, which runs Android 1.6. The new Android-smartphone will be called HTC Predator, but we have no information besides the name of the device.

HTC Touch Pro 2 and HTC Fuze Quality of Pictures

Today we decided to compare the quality of photos and videos that you can take with communicators HTC Touch Pro 2 and HTC Fuze.

Some of us are lucky enough having a brand new Touch Pro 2, but some people even haven’t bought this powerful communicator. Comparing our records, we are interested in such aspects as the quality of the camera. In this article we have decided to share our thoughts on this matter with our readers.

Although at first sight, both communicators have the same 3.2-megapixel camera, the final result differs quite substantially. Let’s look at the quality of video and photos separately. Many buyers do not even realize that Touch Pro 2 records video with 4 times more resolution than HTC Touch Pro or Fuze. And it plays a huge role! HTC Fuze records video in QVGA format with resolution of 320×240, while Touch Pro 2 records video in VGA format with resolution of 640×480. As a result, video is much clearer and brighter. This is especially noticeable when watching videos on your computer in full screen mode – you can see even the smallest details, and noise will be much less. It should also be noticed that without high-quality software you can view your recordings on your device. With its strong speaker, you can normally hear the whole video (without putting the phone to your ear, trying to hear anything). Thus, despite the identical characteristics, the camera of HTC Touch Pro 2 takes great videos with high resolution.

Now let’s look at the photos. If we compare the quality of photos made with HTC Fuze and HTC Touch Pro 2, the Touch Pro is clearly the leader. In fact, in the bright light HTC Fuze makes very good photos and not much inferior to its new colleague. And in low light both communicators have nothing special to boast about. However, if we take photos in dim light, Touch Pro 2 will immediately show all its abilities. Photos captured with it are very clear and bright, without any interference on the edges.

Not bad, isn’t it? Also, do not forget that Touch Pro 2 also features the possibility of ISO setting (you can select the ISO manually, or configure the figure from ISO 100 to 800) and ISO settings to view your pictures. So HTC Fuze is far behind.

Pictures taken in bright light are not very different in quality, you may only have a little digging in the settings. In general, both phones make great photos in daylight, so the difference between them is practically impossible to see.

Thus, despite the same 3.2-megapixel camera of both communicators, Touch Pro 2 will please its users with much better quality videos and photos. How I envy all the lucky ones who already got this communicator.

Nokia N97 vs HTC Touch Pro 2

The long-awaited NOKIA N97 was finally released, but the HTC company has produced a decent opponent of the phone Touch Pro 2.

If you like large display and full retractable QWERTY-keyboard, then this review will help you to decide how to justify spending your money!

In N97, supports the operating system Symbian 60 v5, while Touch Pro is equipped with Windows Mobile 6.1 so if you have a preference for a particular operating system – the choice is clear.

Most of these models are with a sliding keyboard, both are quite large and although N97 is slightly smaller than Touch Pro 2, it looks bigger.

Both devices have nearly the same display size. Touch Pro 2 is slightly heavier (180 gr.) than N97 (150 gr.).

Display:
Both mobile phones use resistive touch screens, bright and good contrast. But they are far below from the communicators with capacitive screens: Apple iPhone or HTC Hero. Screen of Touch Pro is 800×480 pixels, compared with 640×360 for N97. But if you will watch videos or use the Internet you do not feel great difference.

Keyboard:
The keyboard represents the most significant difference between these models.
Nokia has placed the buttons in 3 lines; it has made it possible to increase the size of the buttons. HTC, is equipped with 5 line keyboard.

The first gives you the opportunity to add widgets to your homepage, which can provide information in real time such as: weather, currency rates, etc., and Touch Pro 2 got modified TouchFlo interface, which is now more customizable.
The debate on two different platforms will be going for a long time, but each has its advantages and disadvantages, ultimately it comes down to personal preference, but any user can configure one of OS himself/herself that contribute to their developers.

Memory:
For those who use the phone primarily as a multimedia device N97 with 32Gb memory will look more attractive than Touch Pro 2 with 512 Mb. Both communicators can increase their memory with the help of microSD-cards. Nokia is equipped with a standard 3.5 mm input for headphones, unlike its competitor with annoying mini-USB.

N97 has 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash while TP2 has 3.2 megapixel camera, and even without flash.

Battery:
Both models have battery with 1500 mAh, and will use the device without any problems at least a day, with an average load. Though, it should be mentioned that devices of this class need more powerful battery.

Conclusion:
Communicator from Nokia is suitable for modern man who likes to listen to music, keeps a large archive of multimedia in his/her mobile phone, makes high-quality images with the help of 5 megapixel camera. What about Touch Pro 2 – it is suitable for business man who likes excellent design, comfortable keyboard and display.
