Installation:
1) Download the archive (126mb) and extract its contents to the root of the memory card
2) Run Haret.exe
3) Rename ubuntuarm.img to ubuntu.img
4) Replace the file STARTUP.txt to this (if you need WiFi – then enter your MAC-address instead of XX: XX: XX: XX: XX: XX )
5) Turn on the WiFi in Windows Mobile and run Haret.exe

Owners of HTC Touch Pro, HTC Touch Pro2, HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch Diamond2 and HTC Touch HD can change the default splash screen with a more colorful one. Do not confuse the Welcome screen, animated screen saver with a Splash-screen! This is the first image that appears when you start the device.

Instruction for self-installation:

1. Download the required archive:

It seems like the malfunction of the camera of HTC HD2, which we have already talked about last week, is not present only on this new flagship. This problem occurs in other smartphones as well and this is not only a problem of the HTC company.

As you can see, there are also noticeably pink spots in the center of each image. Moreover, it does not depend on the platform or the operating system, or from the manufacturer as the photos proved to be of various models and companies.

Perhaps all three models are equipped with cameras provided by the same manufacturer that has this defect. But still there is no exact information about the problem and no official announcements.

Design
The dimensions of HTC Touch HD are more than it’s opponent’s. It is available in black and in my opinion, is the most stylish and sophisticated device ever based on the Windows Mobile operating system. In other words, I have given him first place in the category of “design”. If you like small phones more than big ones, you may not agree with me.

Screen
It is well known that HD is equipped with a huge perfect WVGA- display. Screen communicator Samsung Omnia is also rather big, but it is just a QVGA (WQVGA). It looks fairly well, but can not be compared with the screen of the communicator HTC Touch HD.

The size of internal memory
Communicator Samsung Omnia 8G is equipped with internal memory, which is quite good (besides, you can use external SD memory cards). Perhaps this is not the most decisive argument for choosing the phone, but nevertheless that’s the main argument.

Power connector
While HD is equipped with a standard connector miniUSB, Samsung for some reason continues to use its corporate plug. I personally do not mind, but I know that for many people, this deficiency plays an important role.

Power Button
The only way to turn on the HTC Touch HD is to press the power button on the top. I am very much irritated, as to press the top button with one hand is almost impossible. This is a failure of the developers of HTC.

On other hand, HTC Omnia can be turned on with the power button, as well as any button on the shell, which is a much more discomfort.

Touchpad
Samsung Omnia is equipped with an optical touchpad, which can also be used as a mouse. Touch HD does not have a touchpad.

I acknowledge that if the communicator interface is ideal for finger pressing, the need for a touchpad virtually disappears. However, we know that the Windows Mobile platform interface is far from being perfect. That is why the button touchpad is very important! In addition, the developers of Touch HD do not offer to users any alternative other than the virtual keyboard.

OK button
Another important point- is closing the windows by clicking X or OK.

When using the communicator Samsung Omnia, you have to click on the button located in the upper right corner that is quite uncomfortable. Touch HD, in turn, is equipped with a “back”button, which may replace the OK button.

User Interface
Both phones are equipped with multi-communicator user interface.

HTC Touch HD communicator TouchFLO 3D interface looks great and meets all criterias of the everyday needs. TouchWiz interface of the communicator Samsung Omnia looks very conceptual, but far below the speed of its competitor.

Perhaps, some users prefer to vote for the TouchWiz, but TouchFlo is more functional, and works at lightning speed (especially at the Touch HD)

Additional software
Both phone are equipped with various standard applications, but the Omnia boasts a long list (among them: alarm clock, phone book, the converter program to read and much more)

Sensory impact
When you press the external buttons Touch HD feels some impact, but the Omnia affects its sensitivity when it comes to touchpad, keyboard and other buttons.

Auto-turn
Samsung Omnia turns from the book into a landscape mode from all the applications. This is a wonderful feature, which is also accompanied by various visual effects.

On the other hand, Touch HD, like many other communicators (Diamond, Pro, iPhone, etc.) supports only screen turn in certain applications.

More about the user interface
It is worth noting that the screen of the Communicator Touch HD is so great that even the tiniest menu becomes convenient. And this is just because the screen is increased. Add to this the fact that most of the menu tabs are already quite large, and you get a wonderful and convenient interface. Perhaps not perfect, but pretty good!
