Thanks to the craftsmen now every single owner of HTC HD2 can independently run Android 2.1 on his own device. But if making experiments is not for you then you can only wait for a stable version, watching the progress of the makeover.

How long to wait? It is unknown to anyone. But the pace of development is simply impressive. Not long ago HTC HD2 Android OS has added support for the light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer and a compass. And now they got the chance to resolve the problem with Wi-Fi connection. Maybe tomorrow we will be able to achieve a stable operation of 3G and in couple of weeks we will see ported Android, completely ready for everyday usage.

As announced by Techcrunch Google tries to add more speed and effieciency for its devices, thus they have plans to produce a better default UI. All of this leads to the idea that the company-based interfaces such as MotoBlur or NinjaBlur and even the all-favorite HTC Sense will not get the chance to taste the main pluses of the new operating system.

HTC Hero: The Best Smartphone Once More

HTC Hero was named to be the best phone of the year according to one of the most popular magazines of technology- Gadget. The main things that was taken into account was the fact the phone is actually working on the Android OS.

As to the the head editor of the magazine, he believes that “ HTC Hero has been an eye-opening experience. Android has been built from the ground up to fully integrate all the various Google apps, such as mail, maps, contacts and more. Android also has an extremely simple and graceful user interface which is fully multitasking, unlike the iPhone, and very customizable.” So here we see all of the pros and cons of the smartphone if compared with its main competitor iPhone.

This OS is being rather discussed through various companies and thus we might say that with the help of it the company will be able to make a greater share on the market and replace its older models with the brand new Android OS versions. The latest innovations for now can become the information that the latest version of 2.0 has just appears now with free turn-by-turn navigation from Google, it has the power and the user-friendliness to ensure its success.

HTC Releasing Smartphones on WinMo 7?

Regardless of the fact that most of the attention was shifted from WinMo OS to Android OS, there is some interesting information about the first one. Web resource WMPoweruser based on reliable sources notes that three of the smartphones based on Windows Mobile 6.5 (HTC Trophy, HTC Tera, HTC Photon) from the recent roadmap are only part of WinMo-gadgets, scheduled for release in 2010.

As it turned out, these smartphones are intended only for mobile operator T-Mobile. In addition there will be announced other gadgets based on Windows Mobile.

The second news is that Microsoft chose the HTC as a strategic partner for the production of devices based on newer Windows Mobile 7. It was learned that the Taiwanese manufacturer is planning to release smartphones running the Windows Mobile 7 already in the first half of 2010, although this may happen a little later, around the third quarter.

Year after year HTC company is trying to make newer progress in the field of working with the consumers. This can be slightly seen through the total change of the advertising campaign and also the reveal of some of the newcomers for the next year.

As some of you might already know Firefox started its way of working on mobile OS this year and the first phone that it was released on was Nokia N900. But as it’s clear that such Firefox mobile OS won’t be able to compete with already existing OS of Google company.

For now the main features of this Firefox mobile are things like it supports geolocation and direction oriented features, multitouch displays, haptic feedback, Electrolysis, JetPack, WebGL, and the ability to control a camera.

So according to the rumors Firefox is planning to have a new Windows mobile version for the upcoming year. The main work over the development of the OS is already done but everything needs to be tested for a proper operation.

Also there are some talks about another possibility that Mozilla will be launching Firefox Mobile for the Android OS, but there are no current news about it.

HTC With a Dual OS?

While taking a glance at the newcomers of the HTC brand we face the question about the possible updates of the OS. But due to the recent rumors the need of such updates can be delayed as the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor gives an opportunity of switching OS. Qualcomm Incorporated is one of the leading technology developers and innovators, so the chance of cooperation with HTC seems to be proper offer for both companies.

For now this seems to be not far in the future. But anyways the testing will take some time and most probably such a smartphone operating with a dual OS of both Android and Windows Mobile will appear in the market no earlier than in 2011 or even 2012.

Android 2.1 OS Coming in Two Weeks

After the unofficial release announcements on the web about the Google Android 2.1 OS for HTC phones, a lot of people came up with a list of problems. First of all the sources that they were using to get the OS from were rather unreliable. This was also influencing the fact that most of the loaded Android 2.1 OS were not working properly and the result was dysfunctioning of the phone or some of its applications.

According to the recent news we will need to wait untill the end of the month and the official release will be coming right for the Christmas season. Well, anyways some still suggest that the actual release will take place in around two weeks. This is not a long period to wait and take advantage of getting the OS from the official distributor.

T-Mobile G1 will not be Updated

The first smartphone which runs Android OS probably will not be able to get newer versions of the operating system. Models T-Mobile G1 will be satisfied only with “cake” (OS Google Android Cupcake), and now it can not install “donuts” (OS Google Android Donut) and “éclairs” (OS Google Android Éclair). The problem is that Android Cupcake already occupies all the memory allocated by the operating system and there is no extra place on the device for larger programs.

HTC engineers don’t exclude the possibility of further upgrading the model G1, but in general, their forecasts are not very optimistic as the limit of space precludes installing new software in its entirety.
