Yesterday on its Facebook page HTC announced the incomplete list of its smartphones that will receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in early 2012. Earlier we heard the Motorola Droid RAZR and Bionic will get ICS at the same time, as the HTC smartphones. However, none of the carriers has come with a similar announcement, and only yesterday evening Sprint posted on its Community Blog it’ll update some of its HTC smartphones to the mentioned version of Android.
It’s gratifying, but again we don’t have the complete list. The announcement comes in this form:
“Sprint will begin to rollout Google’s latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, to our customers in early 2012. Ice Cream Sandwich will be available via an over-the-air update to a variety of devices including HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and other key products in our line-up.”
The carrier mentions only two devices, the HTC Evo 3D and the HTC Evo Design 4G, about which we heard earlier. This has made a stir among consumers, so we hope Sprint will come with another, but more detailed announcement.
