Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE Is Official!

Sprint’s version of the HTC One X has been called in different ways — the HTC Jewel, the HTC Jet and the HTC Evo HD LTE, but no one knew how the phone would be ultimately called. Sprint and HTC had announced a joint event, which took place on April 4. As expected, there we got all the answers to our questions. And now we have the HTC Evo 4G LTE officially announced for Sprint.

It’s the same HTC One X with a considerably changed design, which makes it appear like the HTC One S. The device also comes with a kickstand. However, it’s a disputable feature, so let’s take a look at its key features.

The phone sports a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 touchscreen at a resolution of 720×1280 pixels, which is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass technology, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and because Tegra 3 doesn’t support LTE Sprint had to go for this version of chip. Other than that, the camera of the device has 8MP lens with ImageSense providing super-fast start-up and focus times.

As to software, the HTC Evo 4G LTE runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0. Consequently, the phone supports Beats Audio, which will be available for all ICS-powered devices.

The phone will be the first handset with Sprint branding, which supports HD Voice, though the carrier said while talking users will hear a needle drop one the other end of the line. The pre-orders for the phone will start on May 7 with a launch date sometime in Q2. The pricing of the HTC Evo 4G LTE is $199.99 on contract.
