Android Gingerbread 2.3 has been released quite a while ago. Soon after that HTC announced about its plans to release an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for its HTC Desire HD. The update was announced to be released sometime this spring, but this is a rather broad timing, and the exact date has been bothering most of the HTC Desire HD customers.
Now we do have an official word from one of the French carriers, SFR, talking about an early release of the update–sometime in the beginning of April. This is just an assumption, however, and not an official release date. But we do hope that even if not for this exact carrier, the release will be accurate for some other location.
“The dates of availability of updates are estimates; whenever a specific date is available we will contact you on Club SFR for Android.”
The carrier also has a few expectations concerning Motorola Defy, hoping to get an update to Android 2.2. I think that the customers of this device will be much more delighted to get the update. The thing is that their device is equipped with a “loser” operating system.
Still there’s no word about the HTC Desire Z. This was the twin of the HTC Desire HD, but as it seems like the promotion of this device was not that successful. Hopefully the update of HTC Desire Z will take place before this summer.
