Quarterly Profit of HTC is Below Expectations

In the third quarter of 2009 net profit of  HTC, the fourth-largest producer in the world of smartphones, has been below analysts’ forecasts because of lower prices and increased competition in the rapidly growing market.

HTC’s net profit amounted at the end of September is 5.76 billion Taiwan dollars ($180 million). Analysts predicted that it will be at the level of 5,92 billion.

Revenues for the same period declined by more than 10 percent year on year to 34 billion Taiwan dollars against decrease in popularity of expensive smartphones.
