Our friends at NokiaPhones are very attentive to what’s happening in the tech world, and it’s due to them that we got informed about the CarrierIQ scandal. During these months the CarrierIQ was under attack and I can’t remember a geek who didn’t lapidate the company for the app, which very possibly had good intentions. Even a 19-page explanation didn’t save the company from becoming an “FBI deal.” Well, this story won’t be forgotten soon, but HTC and Sprint have begun the overhaul and in the near future all 6.3 million smartphones of the manufacturer will be cleaned of the CarrierIQ app.

Yesterday we informed you the HTC Evo 3D is getting an update removing CarrrierIQ app from the phone. This was the carrier’s first step, which was then followed by an announcement stating they would stop using the software to monitor network performance on user devices. In its interview to The Verge HTC noted, “HTC can confirm that we’re working with Sprint to provide maintenance releases that will remove Carrier IQ and provide security enhancements and bug fixes beginning in January.”

As you see Sprint and HTC are very serious when it comes to the “honor of their phones” and we hope other carriers and manufacturers will follow the example of these companies.
