The myTouch appeared last year via T-Mobile, which offered the smartphone to the North American customers and very soon ascertained the undoubted success of this model. This fact made HTC release the same smartphone for the European market, too, but under a different name. For now the European version of the smartphone is called the HTC Glacier, but it is possible that the final name of the device will be changed once again.
We won’t have to wait for the HTC Glacier for too long – the device will be officially announced in the beginning of July, and by the end of the year the smartphone will be available in the European stores.
The HTC Glacier is going to have great specs, just like its previous version – the myTouch – including a “candy bar” body, a very clear 3.8-inch touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, Wi-Fi modules and Bluetooth. The smartphone will also have GPS, FM-radio, a microSD card slot and a standard 3.5 mm audio jack.
As for the cameras, the rear-facing one is 5MP with flash, auto-focus and the ability to shoot HD video, and the front-facing one is weaker, of course, designed for video calling and making self-portraits.
By the way, the smartphone runs Android 2.2, and we have no idea if it will ever be upgraded to Android 2.3. We hope it will – Gingerbread will make the smartphone even more competitive on the European smartphone market.
