The T-Mobile myTouch 4G and myTouch 4G Slide are two handsets, which won’t get official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Though there are custom ROMs, which help feel the joy coming with ICS, they can never be compared with the actual one. However, if these handsets are out of the list, it doesn’t mean HTC has no plans for them, vice versa; the manufacturer does care about them. The update chronicle proves what I say. These phones were among the first ones to get Android 2.3 Gingerbread update. Other than that, the myTouch 4G Slide has received a myriad of minor updates, which helped the phone remain competitive. As for now, both handsets are getting promised maintenance updates.
The updates don’t include software version changes; they bring the phones to version 2.32.531.1. As for the changelog, the T-Mobile myTouch 4G gets a Google security update, new version of the Swype keyboard and several software improvements. While the myTouch 4G Slide receives more goodies, including improvements to Wi-Fi calling, the Genius Button and the Netflix app experience.
The myTouch 4G owners can download the update right now, as it’s being rolled out starting today, while the myTouch 4G Slide owners must wait until March 19.
