MWC 2010: HTC Desire Officially Announced

HTC finally unveiled Desire at the exhibition Mobile World Congress 2010 today. Earlier, the device has been known with the codename Bravo.

The sales of HTC Desire in Europe and Asia will start in April through several operators at once. In Australia, HTC Desire will be sold through Telstra, while the Americans , most probably, will not get this phone in the U.S. market.

In fact, the model is the new version of Nexus One, which has received the corporate user interface Sense for Android 2.1 operating system and a miniature optical joystick (instead of the trackball). But the noise reduction system available for Nexus, is absent on the Desire. On the other hand the technology software platform is supported by Adobe Flash 10.1.

The smartphone is equipped with a 3.7-inch AMOLED-display with a resolution of 480 × 800 pixels, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, GPS-receiver, a 3.5-mm audio jack, microUSB port, 576 MB of RAM, 512 MB of integrated memory, slot for microSD format flash drives (up to 32 GB), Bluetooth 2.1 module, Wi-Fi controller and an accelerometer. The core of HTC Desire is Qulacomm Snapdragon processor of 1 GHz.

The battery of the smartphone, which has a capacity of 1 400 mAh, ensures up to 360 hours of battery life in standby mode and up to 400 minutes of talk time. The smartphone supports GSM / GPRS / EDGE and UMTS / HSPA networks.

Dimensions of the smartphone are 119 × 60 × 11,9 mm, while the weight is about 135 g.
