Every day we hear about different custom ROMs allowing users to feel the pleasure of this or that operating system on their devices. Now it’s the HTC HD2’s turn, as an Android Ice Cream Sandwich custom ROM is available for download.
The HTC HD2 has passed a long way, and during these two years we’ve been hearing various news concerning the phone. It was one of the first smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS. Moreover, being designed especially for gamers it was also one of the first ones supporting flash. However, the smartphone market has been changing very fast and WM 6.5 didn’t have future. Microsoft developed another operating system, Windows Phone, which was more powerful and ensured better performance. Besides Microsoft, Google promoted its native Android platform actively and as a result the latter became the most popular platform in the globe.
All the above mentioned operating systems were ported to the HD2 and if geeks weren’t that interested in porting WP7 (I mean they did it for a couple times), Google’s Android was ported to the phone in all its versions, v2.2 Froyo, v2.3 Gingerbread and so on. Things like this are always in the spotlight, but that’s human nature — to make changes to see what comes inside. Well, that’s another topic; let’s leave it for another day.
What you should know is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM is available for download, though it’s only the beta version. So you have two choices — download it for your geezer HTC HD2 and enjoy it in a fresh look, or wait a little more until the developers offer a more complete version. I recommend that you wait, as the USB mass storage, the camera, hardware acceleration and several other features aren’t ready yet.
