The fact that Apple didn’t announce the iPhone 5, was the greatest disappointment of the year. Anyway a modified version of iPhone 4, called iPhone 4S, has been introduced. It comes with a dual-core processor and an 8 megapixel camera.
Let’s make a comparison of the latest handsets from HTC and iPhone 4S. The first handset that comes to mind is the HTC Rhyme. This device is not that competitive with Apple product, as the specs of the handset are not that advanced, and the main highlight here is its plum color.
Thus the main competitors of the the iPhone 4S are the HTC Vigor and the HTC Amaze 4G. All three devices have the same 8 megapixel cameras and dual-core processors. Here is where Apple loses the battle. Both the HTC Vigor and the HTC Amaze 4G come equipped with 4.3 inch large displays, something that’s missing in iPhone 4S.
The second point, which is also great for the HTC products is that both of them support 4G; the HTC Vigor works with Verizon’s 4G LTE networks and the HTC Amaze 4G works with 42 Mbps T-Mobile 4G networks. But note that this doesn’t mean these devices provide better connection, as some of the users claim that they hardly ever get 4G connectivity and even if they do, they hardly manage to use it as much as they’d like as it takes too much battery.
So I wonder whether US customers will pay a high price for 3G devices, when they can get 4G devices with larger displays at more affordable prices.
