HTC will shift from Qualcomm chipsets to silicone ones. This will not only allow the company to stay updated with the latest trends but also to keep up with faster update possibilities. This confirms that HTC is using NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processors. The first handset to sport such a processor will be the HTC Endeav0r also known as Supreme/Edge.
So HTC will be the first manufacturer to offer such a handset as we expect to get the HTC Edge either on February 26 at HTC Event 2012 or at Mobile World Congress on February 27, 2012 in Barcelona.
The first unit coming with a quad-core processor is the ASUS Transformer Prime tablet, while according to the invitations of MWC 2012, we should expect to get more NVIDIA Tegra 3 handsets and tablets. The statement of “latest quad-core innovation” hints at the involvement of newer manufacturers.
So far only two leading manufacturers announced about their future plans to launch quad-core smartphones in the first quarter of this year. They are HTC and LG, which thinks of releasing the LG X3.
