We didn’t have even slightest doubts that the first Windows Phone handset to be launched in China will have HTC branding. That’s it, and though Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh OS will be officially released in the country only on March 21, the HTC Triumph with Refresh/Tango on board is already available.
The HTC Triumph is the rebranded version of the HTC Titan and doesn’t differ from the latter in any aspect except for the localized WP platform. Thus you will find there a 4.7-inch WVGA display, an 8MP rear camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera for web chat, a 1.5 GHz single-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The renamed WP Tango comes pre-installed and runs quite smoothly (watch the video below).
Besides this handset, the Chinese will meet other WP smartphones in face of the Nokia Lumia 719c and the Lumia 800c though not earlier than March 28. So HTC’s representative has 12 days to prove it deserves to become more popular than those two ones. On the whole, HTC will do its best to compete with Nokia’s handsets, as they are offered for more affordable prices and data plans, and let’s not forget that later the cheapest WP smartphone in face of the Nokia Lumia 610 will also be launched in the country.
