HTC to Update Only a Few Smartphones to Android 4.0

HTC has already announced its first smartphones expected to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the HTC Ville and the quad-core HTC Zeta. The devices will be updated to this version of Android OS in early 2012. The latter was followed by Sprint’s announcement mentioning several names, which will get ICS update earlier than others. However, this doesn’t mean HTC’s all smartphones will be upgraded to v4.0.

Google has launched the source code for Android 4.0 and manufacturers are working on updates to give freshness to their handsets. Until last Friday many HTC smartphone owners hoped their devices would enjoy ICS. Unfortunately, HTC’s official Facebook page conveys another thing. According to it, the first devices getting Android 4.0 update will be the Sensation, the Sensation XL, the Sensation XE and the HTC EVO 3D. Updates for these devices will become available in early 2012.

This was an expected announcement, but we still haven’t heard names like the HTC Incredible S, the Desire S and the Desire HD. Though HTC’s not made an official statement yet, we have all grounds to worry, especially when we recall the Nexus One. In case you have forgotten, the company announced the Nexus One, which has many common lineaments with the above-mentioned phones, won’t get the update ever.

I have a Nokia E5. Got enough memory so would like to keep some movies in it and watch while travelling. But which is the reliable software to play movies in smartphones?
