HTC to Produce Sub-$100 Phones

The world is changing every day. If still several years ago those changes were being caused only by men, then now things have changed greatly; women are also involved in that process and I’d say they are doing pretty good. Did you know that HTC — the Taiwanese company was first founded as a laptop maker company? I guess most of you didn’t have even least notion of it. Well, HTC co-founder, Cher Wang was always attentive to what’s happening in the world, and she always knew what to do to remain in the leading positions. So we (and many manufacturers, as well) should listen to her — she doesn’t say anything just for saying, and her latest announcement is not an exception.

HTC started producing smartphones from 2007; before that it used to make phones for other companies. It was the first company cooperating with Microsoft, and the first HTC handsets ran Windows Mobile platform. Anyway, presently HTC is Google’s closest partner in producing Android-based handsets. Their cooperation has given us a huge number of awesome handsets. However, it’s now always that they are available for everyone in the sense of their price, which is usually very high in their case.

Cher Wang made a surprising announcement saying HTC will produce sub-$100 phones that will run not only on HTC Sense, but will also be integrated with third-party software. She said the decision was made considering the facts that the smartphone market is too young and that many people are just not ready to pay such high prices.

As for the tablet market, she noted this market is younger than the smartphone market, so the manufacturers must choose right directions for development. In this regard, HTC expects the situation to get better and sees stylus as an important differentiator.
