HTC Thunderbolt Waits for Update

HTC Thunderbolt owners should be alert these days if they do not want to miss a consecutive software update for their phone. The exact date for this update is still not known, and though that can be irritating, it is worth following the news to get this update for it is meant to fix several bugs reported on the phone. The update will raise your software version from 2.11.605.5 to 2.11.605.9.

The release of the HTC Thunderbolt on March 17, 2011, which is the first 4G LTE smartphone of Verizon Wireless, was spectacular in the sense of sales it generated. Soon, however, that success was marred by continuous complaints coming from the users concerning the poor battery life, non-triggered rebooting and very slow development and availability of updates for the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread it runs on. Another frustration was that just before the official launch of the handset, the manufacturer decided suddenly to remove some of the features announced, for example the built-in Skype application with the support of video calling.

Anyway, this upcoming update will include a new radio and the following benefits:

  • Resolved issue with contact ringtones.
  • Improved notification volume.
  • Update to the local streaming playback mechanism when network connection is not available.
  • Updated Twitter API for Peep/FriendStream.
  • Improvements in Exchange ActiveSync.

I think it is really worth downloading this when it gets available (36MB in size), for besides removing some of your worries, I believe the news radio is what can be the real thing in this update.
