The HTC Thunderbolt attracted much attention when it was launched back in March. Moreover, it deserved a label of the most expensive smartphone. But it didn’t prevent the phone from becoming more popular, and Verizon’s stores were emptied in counted days. The phone won geeks’ hearts immediately after it’s launch, but there were several issues that affected HTC Thunderbolt’s rating. Fortunately, Verizon was attentive and pushed out several updates one after another that fixed all bugs. Now the HTC Thunderbolt looks perfect, but… software version is old — Android 2.2 Froyo.
Some time ago we talked about the phone’s problems in our HTC Thunderbolt review, and we also know how Gingerbread will improve this handset. This is why some enthusiasts have developed a custom ROM for the device, but it is always more pleasant to get something official. Then Verizon announced that the official update will be rolled out in Q3. And now I am glad to inform you that all Thunderbolt smartphones are getting their Android 2.3 update over-the-air.
