AMOLED displays compared to the LCD ones are brighter, have more contrast and consume less power, but they are still rarely used in portable devices. Basically, they are used by Samsung, since the company produces these components for itself. But now HTC also started to use AMOLED based displays.
One of the first smartphones of HTC with an AMOLED display will be the Bravo. This is a flagship product based on the Google Android 2.0 operating system. According to some web sources, the device is built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform and has an ARM processor with a frequency of 1 GHz. The device is made in candy bar form factor, and almost the entire front panel is occupied by a 3.7 inch AMOLED display with WVGA resolution.
The smartphone can work in GSM and HSDPA, plus it has Wi-Fi modules and Bluetooth. In addition, the device has an accelerometer, a digital compass, GPS / A-GPS, an FM-radio, a microUSB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The RAM of the Bravo is expected to be 512MB, while the ROM will be 320MB.
The built-in 5 megapixel camera supports auto-focus and has a dual LED flash. The Bravo will have 1400 mAh battery to support such a bright display. The sales of the HTC Bravo are expected to begin in the spring of 2010.
