HTC Sense 2.1 Weather Display Setup

One of the most common but useful features of the HTC Sense 2.5 (ex-Manila) is the setup for update of the weather conditions display at the user’s discretion. Unfortunately, the users of the Sense 2.1 couldn’t do the same (only “automatic” update was possible). The XDA user with the nickname notaliberal found an opportunity to set the refresh rate by editing the registry.

To set your refresh rate, create a DWord entry on the path HKCU \ Software \ HTC \ Manila \ with the following parameters:
- DWord Name: Weather.AutoDownloadInterval
- DWord Value: 30 (Decimal)

Set the interval in minutes, and then restart the device. However, please note that the frequent update affects battery charge so take this into account. Besides, this hack might not work on some versions of the firmware.

For those who do not want to bother with editing the registry there are CAB-files available that specify the update interval of 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour.
