The 7 inch Flyer – the first tablet by HTC – is going to be finally released in Europe after two days, on May 9, just as we wrote a couple of weeks ago. As for the U.S., it still has to wait till the end of May to get the device.
The HTC Flyer costs about $500, which is considered to be quite an expensive price. And the worst thing is that Best Buy announced that probably the HTC Scribe, which is one of the coolest features of the tablet, is going to be sold separately, so you will have to pay extra to get the opportunity to draw and write on your tablet with the special stylus! And the extra is sum, as far as we know, $80!
Maybe it’s just Best Buy’s price, since HTC hasn’t announced any official price for the stylus, but has confirmed that it would be sold separately.
This news is… upsetting, yes. We think that HTC’s decision not to include the HTC Scribe in the box is going to affect the sales of the device, and not in a good way… Will many users buy a tablet for $500 if they can’t use all the features of it? Will so many people be ready to pay $580 for the tablet and the stylus? We’ll find it out in a couple of days, I guess.
