On August 11, at an official presentation of the HTC Hero in Taiwan, Peter Chou, the executive director of HTC, made a declaration that by the end of 2009, the number of smartphones with average price range will reach 50-60 percent of the total production.
The level of their prices will be about $300. Of course, the functionality of such devices will be less than the flagship models’ (for example, Diamond2 or Pro2), but, according to the analysts, the “medium” smartphones will have a fairly high demand.
Perhaps, the first one will be the HTC Fiesta — a smartphone with Android OS and QVGA-display.
