HTC One X in USA via AT&T on May 6

Europeans have enjoyed the HTC’s flagship, the HTC One X for a while now. The US version of the smartphone, which is bound with AT&T, has been one of the most anticipated devices with no specific price and launch date. The tortures of the American mobile fans are finally over, or almost over.

The official launch date of the phone has been announced by AT&T. The big day is May 6! The pre-orders will start two weeks earlier, on April 22. AT&T will charge $199 for the smartphone plus a 2-year contract with the carrier.

The US version will obviously be different from the International One X. It will come with 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU instead of quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU. The difference tends to work better for the phone as the former will exclude problems with the battery life, which the European variant suffered from.

Despite the popularity it has already been receiving for its One line, HTC has to keep a watch on Sprint’s version of the handset. The HTC EVO 4G LTE is planned to be launched in the second quarter but it may still cause some inconvenience to the Taiwanese manufacturer. Sprint’s EVO is claimed to come with improvements and better capabilities.
