The mobile world is growing very fast, and software developers are creating newer and cooler products to meet the demands of hardware manufacturers. And vice versa — sometimes software makers create interesting and advanced software, and hardware manufacturers have to work hard to create phones that can run that software.
I guess the HTC Incredible S (that was launched in Europe, in Asia and in Canada in February) has passed the same way. This smartphone was originally released with Android 2.2 Froyo, but its powerful features deserved a more powerful OS, so after three months it got the Gingerbread update.
Firstly, the update for the HTC Incredible S was rolled out in Italy — strange, but fact. However, today we learned that HTC decided to push out the Gingerbread update for all the regions where the smartphone is available. The owners of the HTC Incredible S will receive a notification about the availability of the update, then they will be able to download it if they have a WiFi connection.
The HTC Incredible S is not the only smartphone getting Android 2.3; there is also the HTC Desire HD. This is not all — the HTC Desire Z and the original Desire will get the update in June. So the company decided to bring the update first to the newer smartphones, and then to the older ones.
