CEO of HTC Reter Chou has given an interview to journalists of Alibaba news, which was concerned upon the prospects of the company and its plans for the future. According to Mr. Chou, the last time Microsoft was late with innovative technologies in the field of operating systems for mobile phones, and therefore the interest in its products in this area fell down remarkably.
Specifically, for the HTC company this resulted in release of a number of models running based on Android. However, the company will not abandon the partnership with Microsoft. It will not produce HTC HD2 with another operating system, although this is not a technical difficulty. The smartphones with Windows Mobile will remain an important focus for the HTC, which will be high quality products.
What concerns the smartphones with Android OS, it will soon be possible to release HTC Dragon, which is a much more simple device compared with the smartphone HTC HD2. At present, the company will focus on the HTC YOU advertising company, which was launched in 20 countries and aims to increase people’s interest in production of the HTC smartphones. Later, according to Peter Chou, the company will produce fewer models, but will sell more. Literally, he said: “In the past, we may be producing too many models of phones. Now we are making efforts to address the issue of increasing the sales of individual models”.
Peter Chou is also optimistic about the possibility of competition of the HTC with such giants as Nokia. The key to success here lies in self-development and production of high quality models.
