HTC Freestyle Announced at CES 2011

Name HTC Freestyle was first heard in early December, it was then when the trademark was registered. Around a month later, the unit is reported officially during CES event. During the event HTC introduced four devices which have been long rumored, including EVO Shift 4G, HTC Thunderbolt and HTC Inspire.

HTC Freestyle is the second smartphone of the company based on Brew the platform, together with its successor HTC Smart. If we speak of it more precisely we can say that this is almost HTC Smart only for the US market. And here we do have the same upcoming question- whether a device equipped with Brew MP can be called a smartphone or should there be another name for that?

Well at least the main specs of the gadget leave no space for doubts. Still there is something that gives us a hint that the device can not be fully included into HTC smartphone list- it’s the absence of the Wi-Fi connectivity. But this means that the gadget might come up with a rather low price not excluding $50 in case of signing a contract.

Features of HTC Freestyle:

  • Platform Brew MP
  • Stylish aluminum enclosure
  • 3.2-inch capacitive HVGA-display
  • 3.2-megapixel camera
  • Familiar interface HTC Sense
  • Integration with social networks
  • FM-radio, GPS, proximity sensor

Despite the fact that the smartphone is not running Android OS, still it gives a chance to fully enjoy Sense experience. The smartphone is also presented under the brand AT & T, but we do not exclude the possibility of its launch in Europe sometime this year.
