HTC Explorer aka HTC Pico Shot Leaked

After announcing several high-end and low-end devices, HTC is back again with a mid-level smartphone — the HTC Explorer (also known as the HTC Pico). Most likely, the name of the device made you think that it will be running Microsoft’s OS, Windows Phone, but no, you’re wrong! Actually the HTC Explorer is going to run Android Gingerbread!

The device is rumored to be something like the HTC Wildfire or the HTC Wildfire S. It comes with the following specs: 600 MHz processor, 3.2-inch HVGA display with a resolution of 480 × 320, 512 MB of RAM/ ROM, 5MP camera, HTC Sense 3.5 and 1230 mAh battery.

The device will work in 900/2100 MHz 3G, and this makes us think that it will be available in Europe, as least when it’s released. Two — Black and Blue — versions of the smartphone will most likely come for free with a 2/3-year contract. We hope to hear about the handset during the HTC NYC event, though the main targets of the evening are going to be the HTC Vigor and the HTC Rhyme (Bliss).
