The HTC Chacha is the first Facebook-dedicated smartphone of the company, planned to hit the UK market on June 17 via T-Mobile. The things are different for the U.S. market – first the phone’s appearance was changed a bit, now we learned its name was changed, too. We don’t know why this happened, but the phone is now called the HTC Status.
BGR says the smartphone will be launched on July 17 via AT&T. We heard similar information earlier, but that time it referred the phone’s launch in Spain. Generally, the name and the design changes don’t mean anything, as the smartphone is very anticipated because of the features it is equipped with. Usually, those who spend much time at social networking sites do not need large screens — they prefer hardware QWERTY keyboards and wide displays. The HTC Status sports a 2.6-inch display with resolution of 480×320 pixels, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and a VGA front-facing camera for video calling, and an 800MHz processor. It runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and is good enough in connectivity area — Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.
There is also the HTC Salsa — another Facebook-dedicated handset, but there is no info about its possible launch date and details, so the HTC Status can be the best choice for now.
