The HTC Butterfly was announced a few days ago but we had no idea when and where it would first be available for purchase. As for now, we have the first retailer getting pre-orders for the device, and it is Expansys.
The HTC Butterfly is the international model of the HTC Droid DNA, which was launched after its Japanese model. In short, it’s one of the best Android smartphones available in the market. HTC wants us not to call it a phablet but its 5-inch Super LCD3 display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 440ppi pixel density and 80 degrees viewing angle doesn’t leave us with other options. Besides this monster-sized screen, the Butterfly also sports a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory with no expansion, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP frontal camera, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Mobile Hotspot support for up to 8 connections, Beats Audio support, a 2020mAh non-removable battery, wireless charging support and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+ on top. Android 4.2 JB will be pushed out later.
Though the phone is ready for pre-order at Expansys, the retailer doesn’t mention any certain launch date or pricing.
