I guess you already know that the flagship smartphone HTC EVO 3D, which is designed especially for the US telecoms operator Sprint and supports CDMA mobile standard, was announced at CTIA Wireless 2011.
Now, when the exhibition is over, the developers have submitted a “global” version of the smartphone that supports GSM.
In technical terms, the only difference between the GSM enabled EVO 3D and the CDMA-only version is the amount of internal memory, which was reduced from 4 GB to 1 GB in the GSM enabled version. The 4.3 inches screen of the smartphone is made using the S-LCD technology; it has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and displays 3D images. It also has 1 GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 adapters, a GPS receiver and a HDMI video output.
Just like the American version of the smartphone, the “global” HTC EVO 3D has a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor, CPU of which runs at 1.2 GHz, and a graphics accelerator Adreno 220. Two 5 megapixel video cameras, located located on the back of the device, are “responsible” for the 3D recording. The GSM enabled EVO 3D runs on Google Android OS.
Sprint EVO 3D will be available this summer, and I guess it will be possible to buy the GSM enabled version around the same time. Unfortunately, there is no information about the price of this item yet.
