HTC and Sprint to Hold Joint Event on April 4

Sprint and HTC have sent invitations for an event, which will be held on April 4 in New York. No details of the so called “collaboration event” are disclosed at the moment. As always the invitation is very vague and it gives us a very good ground for speculations.

Sprint has turned into one of HTC’s closest partners since mid-2010 when the first Evo line smartphone, the HTC Evo 4G was launched. From that time on Sprint periodically launches HTC-branded handsets that are profitably sold at its stores. However, at the beginning of this year HTC announced it would alter its long-term strategy. It meant to annually release and concentrate only on several devices instead of launching a bunch of handsets. So HTC introduced the One series and three different smartphones in low-end, mid-range and high-end categories. That’s all for this year.

Later on there appeared rumors claiming the HTC One X unveiled as the most powerful smartphone from One line would be launched in three variants in the US. Sprint was in the list of carriers expected to get its own version of the HTC One X. Many speculations have been made regarding this device. The handset was called differently; among the names we have the HTC Jewel, the HTC Jet and the HTC Evo HD LTE.

Now that the carrier and the manufacturer have announced a joint event, we tend to think these three handsets will be combined in one and introduced as an Evo line smartphone with One X  features on board.
