HTC and IPCom to Return to Courtroom

Seemed HTC had closed the deal with German IPCom, which sued the manufacturer over infringing its patent rights. As you remember the company filed a lawsuit accusing HTC of violating its rights as to the technology allowing the phone to find cellular coverage while moving. Earlier ITC passed a decision stating there was no violation by HTC, but at the moment an appeals court seems to have changed the initial decision and wants to get both companies back to court.

Patent wars between these two companies are not a new thing and have a years long history. HTC and IPCom have sued each other in the US, the UK and Germany.

This is not an ordinary lawsuit, so the Taiwanese company must be serious, because when ITC refused that HTC has violated IPCom’s patents, everything seemed to be over. But an appeals court says the decision was incorrect and the companies must return to court to re-state their arguments.

We can’t say how this deal will end, but what if HTC loses? Will it mean no HTC smartphone in Germany?
