Gingerbread ROM Leaked for HTC Thunderbolt

The HTC Thunderbolt is the most powerful and most expensive smartphone of the company. Though many people may disagree with me saying the HTC Evo 4G launched via Sprint is the same handset, let’s not forget about the fact that the Thunderbolt swaps 4G WiMAX for LTE. Anyway, the Thunderbolt is always in the center of attention and all updates come to this phone first, then move to others (though it wasn’t so with Gingerbread, as Sprint pushed out Android 2.3 update for its Evo 4G in June while the Thunderbolt hasn’t gotten it yet).

There were several updates fixing several kinds of bugs, but I guess all Thunderbolt users wonder when they can finally update their handsets to Gingerbread, because some time ago we heard Gingerbread will come to the HTC Thunderbolt in June. Unfortunately, Summer passed and we didn’t see the update. I guess this is a real problem, because the Thunderbolt is very popular and competes with such smartphone as the iPhone 4 and the Motorola Droid 3, so such delays affect the reputation of the Taiwanese company.

Most likely, this is the main reason why hackers in the community announced the availability of a brand new Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 update for download. Of course, it is not an official update, so you must to be careful while installing it. I guess this is just a consolation before the carrier rolls out the official Gingerbread update in coming months; probably it will happen in Q3 — really soon.
