There is bad news in store for HTC First and that is AT&T has decided not to continue selling the phone on its network. The reasons cited are its poor sales. Dubbed as the Facebook Phone this device was launched in the market amid high expectations. It was the first mobile phone to ship with the unique Facebook Home feature inbuilt in the device. This phone was launched just months after the widely sought after device was gearing up to enter the mobile phone industry.

In April last year Diplomat had reported that this phone would replace the Facebook homescreen. It would also deliver a brand new user interface that would be centered on both social networking. However from the beginning the above did not go down too well with HTC or Facebook. The response was not great and it was pretty lukewarm initially for the device. There were further reviews by ABC News that stated that the HTC First is a nice phone to visit but it cannot be said to be “Home.”

This phone began to be sold at a price of $99.99 along with a two year contract. This was lower than the $200 high end phones like the iphone. In a major announcement by AT &T the mobile carrier stated that it would be reducing the price of the Facebook phone to $0.99. Now if you examine this it is surely a substantial reduction in price for a mobile phone. Now if you compare the performance of other devices on the mobile carrier you will find that this phone is facing a threat.

It is only a month after this phone has been launched and HTC is facing a catastrophe because of its poor sales on the mobile carrier. This is bad news for the company as the reduction has been made a month after the release of the product. Now this is not the complete story. There are things that are not going well for Facebook as well. It may be surprising but the fact is true that the social networking giant is also undergoing major problems as well. It seems that the two are interlinked and this is why both of them are undergoing a rough patch. Both need to buck up and rectify the issues that they are plagued with if they wish to make both the phone and the social network combination a success!

HTC is mainly in news for its HTC One device however there is news for another handset that though being quite old is still being worked on. This phone in question is the HTC HD2 and a developer of the XDA Forum Feheneo has announced that these devices now support the upcoming mobile OS the FireFox OS by Mozilla. This phone is the subject of development and this is why it is in the news again after disappearing in the market.

We have not heard about the advancements made to the HTC HD2 for a very long time and it is assumed to be done in the consumer forum. There is however some great news for lovers of this unique mobile- it is still active on the development scene. In a major decision it has been announced by ZDA Developers Forum that the Mozilla is all set to come up with a mobile operating system called FireFox currently running on the HD platform of the popular device HD2. There is a forum post where some simple tips and tricks have been taught. The files along with the steps for installation have been elaborately described in the post.

Now when it comes to use you will find that HTC has not yet completed the porting of the device. There are other salient features of this phone that are still not working. Among the things that are not working are the mobile networking, the volume, mass storage and the camera. If the sound works you will find that you cannot hear it as the volume is too low. This is an issue that is being worked on.Currently using the camera is also not a very wise and smart choice. There are other issues where the device refuses identifying the SIM Card. This is strange as the phone has both STK Apps and keymaps.

The above is testament to the fact that smartphone manufacturers are able to determine that a device released way back in 2009 can still be a subject or objection of development and further renovation. This handset was running on the Windows RT software that is a unique OS keeping in mind their age and ability to embrace the new software. We just need to wait and watch. These new developments are sure going to make a huge difference to the device which who knows may return to the market again soon!

This time, it is very good news for the mobile freaks and mobile maniacs. HTC has launched a cheaper version in the name of HTC One to give its user a better experience. Nicknamed as M4 is the mid-range variant of the phone which follows the same design language- we get to see in the One. But it is not very clear whether it will use the same materials. It features two speaker grills on the front. It comes to us with Beats audio.

The smart pictures of this phone were brought to public domain by the notorious Evleaks. Evleaks informs that the phone would sport a 4.3-inch 720p screen. Unlike the One’s quad-core CPU, it will include a dual-core processor. Besides, as its important features it include 2GB RAM and one Ultrapixel camera that we have in the HTC One. Besides, it will include a 1700mAh non-removable battery and offer 16GB of internal memory.

As the report comes, this Smartphone will ship towards the end of the second quarter with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

This is not for the first time; the existence of the M4 has been suggested. It has done before. In February of this year Evleaks indicated that HTC was working on two other phones namely the M4 and G2. As per their information M4 was a premium smartphone just a notch below the HTC M7. M4 will come with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon SoC running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), along with Sense 5.0. Another significant feature that it includes is LTE support. The rumour is that it will come with an entry-level device with a 3.5-inch screen with HVGA display, 512MB RAM and a 5-megapixel camera. This Smartphone is touted to have a 1GHz processor and run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Side by side, it includes latest model of technologies and devices.

What Evleaks have indicated seems to be reliable and it has chance to gorge on goodies. So we have to wait till its launch and soon we will get to see new phone from HTC soon. Now it is very interesting that HTC follows Samsung’s footsteps and introduces mid-range variants of flagships. On the hand, Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy S4 mini, as the important news source discloses. Galaxy S4 mini is basically a mid-range variant of its flagship Smartphone, Galaxy S4.

The HTC One could not save the profits of the Company and its launch was too late. The company has recorded a drop of about 98 percent and this has been recorded as the lowest profit for a quarter since 2004. There was a fall in the revenue as well. The Company has failed to disclose the number of units that have been sold by the Company so far.

According to the CEO of HTC Peter Chou it has been revealed that the company had anticipated that it would infuse some new life in its products however it somehow could not succeed. In this market every phone of a manufacturer more or less looks the same. He also stated that he is of the opinion that the Company has launched the HTC One with success. He is of the positive view that people in the market have received the message. The main goal of the company was to launch a smartphone brand that is trusted, excellent and premier. For the company such brand awareness and preferences are very important as there are different kinds of suppliers that come from many places and there is no differentiation at all.

According to analyst CK Cheng of the CLSA Asia-Pacific Market he laid down that HTC has eventually sold about 750,000 HTC One units in the month of April. There were further reports by Barrons that the company is all set to ship about 3.5 million units in the second quarter of 2013. It has the anticipation that it will sell about ten million units before the completion of 2013. Cheng also is of the opinion that HTC will experience a sales of about 60 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

According to Chou he pointed out that the above brand awareness was crucial for users in the market. This was crucial for the success of the company. In the month of January he has stated that the worst has perhaps past for the mobile manufacturer. However he was wrong. There are analysts of HSBC and Daiwa that had upgraded their new ratings for HTC as a company and here they also had cited more on the strong reviews of the company. This device has also been awarded with an award that praised the design and the metallic finish of the phone. The screen of this phone was also commended as well!

In the month of January this year Peter Chou- the Chief Executive of HTC stated that perhaps the worst for the company had passed. However it is now time for the company to rethink. The delays in HTC One are the prime cause of this Company from Taiwan’s dismal performance in the first quarter of the year. The sales figures were announced last week and surprisingly the Company had just generated about $2.85 million that is down from $152 million about a year back. This means in one year the company has experienced a drop of 98 percent that is not good news for the company at all.

In fact the first quarter results of this company records the most pathetic performance since 2004. Added to the woes of the company was the revenue. This was also down to about $1.45 billion. This amount was in line with most of the figure rounded estimates in the month of April.

The Company had also in the month of February stated that it was expecting about $1.66 bn-1.99 bn for the quarter. However a warning was issued by the Company about a month back on the sales projections that were revised. The gross margin of HTC had come to about 20.3% even by comparison. Apple has successfully doubled that figure and the operating margin of the amount was about 0.1%. The earnings for each share was last recorded at $0.003 that is able a share of the cent of the USA. Chou had commented that this year was a very crucial one for the company.

The fans and the critics of HTC One who have laid their hands on the device has stated that the handset is an overwhelming one. However the reasons behind the delays in shipment of the HTC One had no reason at all. The device was supposed to land in the market by the middle of March but there are manufacturing delays had pushed this date back to April. At this point the competitor handsets of the company were already out in the market. The main rival Samsung Galaxy S4 was also launched at this time. HTC could not bank on the release of the phone. It was silent on the delays and this affected the sales of the mobile a lot. The timing for release was not good as Samsung took over the market fast. The Company has plans to make a comeback in the second quarter.

HTC, the mobile making giant from Taiwan has been struggling for a while due to tough competition from other smartphone makers and now its financial audit shows this gloomy scenario. Recent audit shows that HTC profit has dipped by more than 98% compared to the same period last year. A preliminary result of this Taiwanese mobile manufacturing giant reveals that HTC included some preliminary Q1 results in its monthly financial report and the numbers aren’t looking good. HTC had a disastrous last year, particularly the second half. This year it hoped that it could turn table reverse by its new products, but due to some difficulties in manufacturing has delayed the launch and hence the supply. Till now only three countries viz. UK, Taiwan and Germany saw the launch on time.

Report says HTC’s net profit in the first quarter of 2013 has been just $2.8 million which is a whopping 98% drop compared to the same quarter in the last year. The report also says that net revenue for Q1 2013 dropped by 37% to $1.4 billion.

Analysis by a market research firm said that the effect of lost sales due to shortage in production of HTC One in the first quarter will affect the company in the long run. But it is also predicted that an early launch of HTC One, at least ahead of Samsung Galaxy S4 can provide a fairly good chance to HTC of having a decent sales in the second quarter.

According to the schedule announcement, the HTC One was supposed to be launched globally in mid-March. But HTC could manage to manufacture only some limited number of handsets which was enough only for a limited retail launch in the UK, Germany and Taiwan. It is ril not too clear and any confirmation is yet to come whether the company has resolved the HTC One camera module supply issues, or not. As of now, the device is expected to be launched in the US, rest of Europe and Australia before the end of April.

It is expected that HTC’s sales volume will see a significant improvement in the second quarter because of the HTC One and the recently launched Facebook phone – the HTC First. HTC First is intended mainly to those more than 1 billion people who are simply addicted to Facebook.HTC First also included a Facebook-made launcher called Home.

The HTC First is one of the first devices launched by HTC that has Facebook Home. This phone is not a very high end one however it will be a hot favorite for social media freaks. When you open the mobile phone package you will find that it has an inner cardboard packaging with a guide for quick start. There are HTC stickers besides the plug adaptor and the MicroUSB cable. This is all regular stuff and it is why we tell you that this phone does have high end features and technology.

If you take a look at the rear cover of this new phone you will find that it is a soft touch one. There are two color variants- one in black and white and the other in turquoise. The case is a round one and it feels and looks clunky and to some extent amateurish for an adult to hold in the hand. However the device is very comfortable to hold and the soft touch at times does become a little slippery. There are sides in the MicroSIM tray and a micro USB port with a volume rocker.

There is a power button and a 3.5mm earphone jack. The bottom of the phone has a speaker grille. HTC has already drifted away from the Android keys in stock like the HTC One. This phone has a pop up menu button with a circle to navigate the user to the Cover Feed that is a double tap. It is a phone that enables multi-tasking and a full arrow for the back key. If you are used to Android devices you may find the above to be a bit difficult initially.

The salient feature of this phone is the Facebook Home that comes preset. This means if you are fond of social media and love to be in touch you can opt for the benefits of the Home login screen when you are on the move. All you have to do is enter the email address and the password and the Facebook Home pops up for you to use. The cover feed displays the Facebook feed in a single place and you have the scope to swipe across panels to get access to extra updates. You also get the chance to comment on posts made by your Facebook friends. You can also add comments to pictures and like them as well by choosing the “like” button.

There are a host of smartphone giants doing business and once in a while facing a lawsuit is no bog deal. The latest to join the bandwagon are Nokia and HTC. HTC One is now embroiled in a microphone issue with Nokia that has recently been granted an injunction in this regard.

Now the question arises what Mic issues is HTC One facing and what does it have to do with Nokia. A court in Amsterdam has granted a request that has been put forward by the Finnish company that supplies of its microphone parts should not be given to HTC. It has held that these parts are supplied and manufactured by itself and not for HTC. HTC has been using the same components of this microphone and you ca actually find it in the Lumia range of smartphones.

HTC is again a loser for its HTC One series of smartphones that have faced a number of delays in shipping to parts of the world promised. The mic in dispute is said to have been found in the Nokia Lumia 720. The legal statement has said that HTC does not have any license nor authority from Nokia to use the above microphones or Nokia technologies for which they have been developed. In its marketing statement the mobile giant has claimed that HTC has used the HDR microphone as a salient feature for the HTC One range of phones. However Nokia has used its technology to make this microphone and HTC has no legal right to incorporate it in a device. This mic has been developed exclusively for Nokia.

HTC has no right to copy any of the innovations or components that Nokia has bought out. This is very essential for the company to take note. HTC on the other hand stated that it is very disappointed with the decision and the judgment. It is sure that this judgement is going to have a severe impact on the business and the alternate solutions it uses for the manufacture of mobile phones. Legal disputes are a part of the smartphone world and now HTC it seems needs to take other alternative methods and go in for manufacture of new mic technology for it future line of phones. This legal battle has now staopped and HTC has no other choice but to abide by the decision of the court and start racking its brains for a new smartphone microphone.

If you are thinking that HTC One is the most advanced smartphone from HTC, then be ready to see a revamped version of HTC One, the HTC M4 which is expected to be launched in June this year. According to sources close to HTC, the company is working hard on this successor model to the HTC One, with the dubbed name the HTC M4. It is also said that this HTC M4 is going to be a revised model made from metal alloy.

It is not clear what exactly is new for this model HTC M4. But it can easily be guessed that this new model will have some kind of update along the lines of HTC’s One XL and One X+ which included storage and processor upgrades from the original HTC One X, without any change in change in most of the features. Sources are saying that HTC has contracted a new supplier named Catcher Technology for its metal alloy used in the new model. HTC was understandably a bit annoyed with the supplier contracted for the supply of the exterior shell components of the HTC One and there was a failure to meet demand which cost HTC dear by losing sales opportunity due to delay. Shipments for the metal alloy and hence the HTC M4 are expected in June and a predicted 700,000 units is the target for the Q2. It is clear that in order to prevent component shortage issues happening again, HTC has decided to give its chassis orders solely to Catcher.

The HTC One has proven popular with reviewers and critics for its physical design. It was reported that HTC got an overwhelming response from US customers as per the pre-orders data. But the delay in shipment cost it very much. Many commentators believed the HTC One was the company’s ‘make or break’ handset after multiple consecutive failings to hit targets and turn a profit. According to the schedule announcement, the HTC One was supposed to be launched globally in mid-March. But HTC could manage to manufacture only some limited number of handsets which was enough only for a limited retail launch in the UK, Germany and Taiwan. It is still not tclear and any confirmation is yet to come whether the company has resolved the HTC One camera module supply issues, or not. As of now, the device is expected to be launched in the US, rest of Europe and Australia before the end of April.
