The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide has appeared out of HTC’s attention. In all probability, it will never be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The revealed list of HTC smartphones that will get the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system in coming weeks doesn’t include the phone. However, if you are ready to lose your phone warranty in favor of installing a custom ROM, you are welcome — the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide has got an alpha port of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
As usual, ICS can be ported to the device through rooting. It can be done with the help of ClockworkMod tool. The rest of instructions remain the same — download the file from XDA Developers Forum, copy to your phone’s microSD card, perform a full wipe and then install the zip from the SD card.
If you are going to do it for the first time, I recommend that you read the instructions at the source link. Moreover, this is an alpha build, so there is a list of bugs, which will be hopefully solved in the upcoming versions.
