The first HTC smartphones to get Ice Cream Sandwich will be the Sensation line handsets. But the launch date is not mentioned and we don’t want to fill our minds with empty hopes. However, there are 300 happy Sensation and Sensation XE owners currently using Android 4.0 on their handsets.
Do you think they have rooted their phones and installed a custom ROM? Interestingly, they haven’t; everything is official. The manufacturer has called it an “Early Access Preview” and choosing 300 users gave them an opportunity to test Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC Sense 4.0.
Below is what HTC particularly says:
“HTC is doing something new and pretty cool in the coming days: we’ll be releasing an “early access preview” of our ICS upgrade for the Sensation and Sensation XE. This will be limited in scope (just a few hundred users and only in Europe) because we’re still scaling up back-end resources for general availability worldwide, and our hope is people will play with it and enjoy getting used to the ICS experience with Sense. We’ll be doing similar previews for other devices in the future, too.”
Well, the rest of users have no reason to get upset, because the update is no doubt on its way and we’ll soon get our hands on it.
